Mets are confident in Lucas Duda but not enough to start him

The combination of a horrific NLDS and lefty Jon Lester on the mound for the Cubs in the first game of the NLCS landed Lucas Duda on the bench Saturday night and Michael Cuddyer at first base.

It didn’t have the desired effect, but Cuddyer did get a hit in the Mets 4-2 win at Citi Field before being replaced by Duda for defensive purposes in the seventh.

Cuddyer hit into a double play in the second and struck out in the fifth and manager Terry Collins said Duda would be back in the lineup Sunday against right-hander Jake Arrieta.
