The Mets are going make an announcement about their pitching staff when they return to Citi Field Friday. Terry Collins was cryptic following Thursday’s win in Milwaukee, but it seems likely that top pitching prospect Steven Matz is going to be joining the team.
Fox's Ken Rosenthall first reported the lefthander’s call-up on Twitter.
Matz, who pitched on Tuesday night, is 7-4 with a 2.19 ERA in Triple-A. He has struck out 94 in 90.1 innings. Reached by the Daily News on Thursday, his agent said, he "had nothing to report.
