PORT ST. LUCIE — Jacob deGrom skipped his bullpen session Monday at Tradition Field due to soreness in his left groin. He said he wasn’t concerned about it and could return to the mound as soon as Tuesday.
“I felt like I could’ve [gone] today, but I think it was just being careful. It’s early,” the Mets right-hander told reporters. “Not wanting to go out there and aggravate it more.”
DeGrom said he slipped running a few days ago, which could have triggered the injury, though he didn’t feel any soreness until Sunday.
The 27-year-old did engage in long toss on flat ground and participated in the fielding drills.
