The Mets announced the winners of their Sterling Award Winners for 2018, honoring the best players across their four Single-A and above affiliates. The winners:
- Player of the Year: 1B Peter Alonso
- Pitcher of the Year: RHP Justin Dunn
- St. Lucie (A+) Sterling Award: INF Andres Gimenez
- Columba (A) Sterling Award: LHP David Peterson
Starting from the top, Peter Alonso was the obvious choice. The 2016 2nd round pick led all of minor league baseball with 36 home runs and 119 RBI across two levels, ravaging both the Eastern League and, after a brief adjustment period, the Pacific Coast League.
