The Mets are keeping all options and avenues of communications open when it comes to improving their roster.
They are one of three teams, including the Padres and Brewers, to have checked in on free-agent starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel, according to The Athletic. The Mets continue to monitor the market for Keuchel and reliever Craig Kimbrel, an industry source confirmed to The Post’s Mike Puma, but aren’t considered serious pursuers of either.
The Athletic reported the Mets’ efforts were simply a “matter of due diligence” as other teams trying to win now are doing the same to avoid any surprises.
