The New York Mets have “had talks regarding Brian Dozier,” according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports. Despite the rumor, Heyman adds that other teams—including the Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies—are more logical fits for the second baseman’s services, especially considering the Mets’ acquisition of Robinson Cano in a trade earlier this offseason.
Dozier played his first six-and-a-half seasons with the Minnesota Twins, where he hit .248/.325/.447 with 167 home runs and a 109 OPS+ in 955 games. The 31-year-old was named to the American League All Star team in 2015 and won a Gold Glove award in 2017.
