The Mets gave Ervin Santana a shot Friday afternoon, signing the journeyman to a minor league contract, the team announced.
Santana, a 15-year veteran, made three unsuccessful starts for the White Sox this season, posting a 9.45 ERA. Though he made the All-Star team just two seasons ago, the 36-year old has pitched just 38 major league innings since the start of the 2018 season.
He will report to Single-A Port St. Lucie, the Mets said.
