The Mets have called up infielder Matt Reynolds before Tuesday's game, and have optioned LHP Sean Gilmartin to Triple-A, the team announced.
This is good news. The Mets have been playing short a bench player (and an extra relief pitcher) since Wilmer Flores went on the disabled list. Gilmartin was added to the bullpen to replace Logan Verrett, who started in place of the injured Steven Matz this past Saturday.
Reynolds, who can play all four infield positions and some outfield, and who spent time with the Mets last October, was batting just .
