Mets add infielder Jed Lowrie on two-year deal

The Mets added infielder Jed Lowrie on a two-year deal, The Post’s Mike Puma confirmed Thursday.

The 34-year-old switch-hitter comes to Queens after spending the past three seasons with the Athletics and will be entering his 12th MLB season in 2019.

Capable of playing any position in the infield, Lowrie has put together a .262 batting average with 104 homers and 509 RBIs over his career and was named an All-Star for the first time in 2018. The Mets plan to use Lowrie on an everyday basis, and he could get time at first base if prospect Peter Alonso isn’t ready.
