Mets add Danny Espinosa on minor league deal

Danny Espinosa will be joining the Mets at major league spring training.

The 31-year-old veteran infielder signed a minor league contract with the Mets, the team announced on Friday.

Espinosa spent his first seven seasons with the Nationals before spending the 2017 season with the Rays, Angels and Mariners. Espinosa has accumulated 98 homers, 316 RBIs, 64 stolen based and 367 runs in 872 career games.

He split the 2018 season among three Triple-A teams, though he was signed to a minor league contract by the Yankees in January before being released in March.

Espinosa joins catcher Devin Mesoraco as the latest veteran depth signings for the Mets this offseason.
