Steven Matz has been activated from his injured list stint for today’s start. He had been placed on the IL with nerve soreness in his pitching elbow. After throwing a bullpen session on Tuesday, Matz said he was “really happy” after throwing 45 pitches. The nerve soreness has played a large part in Matz’s ability to throw his curveball per Tim Healy. Matz has pitched well in almost every start and has a 3.86 ERA despite not recording an out in one of his starts. The Mets intend on keeping his pitch count to 75-80 pitches this afternoon in Miami.
