The Mets have activated right-handed relief pitcher Miguel Castro from the injured list, having placed him on it yesterday for COVID-19 reasons, and they’ve optioned fellow righty reliever Geoff Hartlieb to Triple-A Syracuse.
After getting off to a very good start this season, Castro hasn’t be quite as effective over the past couple of months. Still, he has a 3.48 ERA in 44.0 innings with 9.82 strikeouts per nine innings. He’s also walked 5.93 batters per nine on the season. While he isn’t one of the Mets’ best relievers right now, he’s also not their worst.
