The Mets have activated first baseman James Loney and demoted infielder Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas, the team announced.
Loney is in Tuesday’s lineup at first base and is hitting sixth.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Loney, RHP Jeff Walters was designated for assignment.
Campbell, 29, was hitting .159/.270/.222 with one home run and five RBIs in 30 games (74 at-bats) with the Mets this season.
He became a de facto starting player at first base when Lucas Duda was placed on the disabled list and had recently been the fill-in at third base for David Wright.
