PORT ST. LUCIE — The Mets are keeping quiet on exactly what is causing Jed Lowrie’s knee soreness.
In a possible philosophical shift under new general manager Brodie Van Wagenen, the team on Friday danced around requests from reporters for a diagnosis on Lowrie’s left knee, which received an MRI exam Thursday in New York.
The official diagnosis provided by the club was “soreness behind the left knee” and “nothing serious.”
The team refused to identify the specific issue.
Lowrie returned to camp and wasn’t available for comment. According to manager Mickey Callaway, the plan is to take it slow with the 34-year-old infielder, who earlier in the week said he incurred the discomfort upon “ramping up” his workouts.
