The Mets have acquired right-handed reliever Fernando Salas from the Angels in exchange for minor league RHP Erik Manoah.
Salas, 31, has posted a 4.47 ERA and 1.26 WHIP this season for the Angels, while striking out 45 batters in 56 1/3 innings (58 appearances).
To make room for Salas on the 40-man roster, OF Justin Ruggiano was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
With rosters expanding to 40 on Thursday, the Mets will not have to remove anyone from the 25-man roster to accommodate Salas.
Salas, who is a free agent after the season, will be eligible for the postseason roster should the Mets qualify.
