MIAMI — The Mets aren’t finished trying to upgrade their roster.
With an eye on the team’s lack of true lefty options in the bullpen, the Mets on Tuesday acquired Oakland reliever Eric O’Flaherty and cash considerations for a player to be named later. To clear roster space, Alex Torres was designated for assignment following the Mets’ 5-1 victory over the Marlins.
O’Flaherty, 30, was recently designated for assignment by Oakland. In 25 appearances for the club this season he was 1-2 with a 5.91 ERA.
But the fact lefties are hitting only .186 against O’Flaherty made him an appealing option for the Mets.
