Mets acquire Indians’ Brooks Pounders as bullpen changes begin

The Mets’ search for bullpen help continues.

The team’s latest attempt was acquiring right-hander Brooks Pounders from the Indians for cash considerations, the Mets announced Saturday.

The move came along with the team officially designating reliever Hector Santiago for assignment and optioning Tim Peterson to Triple-A to bring back Tyler Bashlor and Chris Flexon to their active roster.

The 28-year-old Pounders has not pitched for the Indians in the majors this season, but is 2-1 with 2.31 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 46 innings in Triple-A. His is 3-2 with 8.92 ERA over 38.
