NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Mets acquired right-hander Fernando Salas from the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night in a trade for minor league right-hander Erik Manoah.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets placed outfielder Justin Ruggiano on the 60-day disabled list. Earlier Wednesday, the Mets traded minor league catcher Nevin Ashley to Texas for cash considerations.
The 31-year-old Salas has four saves and a 2.93 ERA in 15 1/3 innings in 17 games since the All-Star Game. Overall, Salas was 3-6 with six saves and a 4.
