Mets ace Matt Harvey named NL Comeback Player of the Year

Matt Harvey, who missed last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, has been named the National League Comeback Player of the Year after helping the Mets reach the World Series.

The righthander went 13-8 with a 2.71 ERA over 29 starts in 2015.

“Matt Harvey did an extraordinary job for us this year. We had a couple of bumps along the way, but the fact is he pitched exceptionally well coming off his injury,” Mets GM Sandy Alderson said Wednesday when vaguely asked if he planned to trade the righthander. “He pitched exceptionally deep into the season coming off his injury, and I think demonstrated his commitment to the team and willingness to go the extra mile for the organization and his teammates.
