The Mets spotted the Rockies an early 2-0 lead in the second inning as, after retiring the first five batters he face, Sean Manaea walked Brendan Rodgers and then surrendered a two-run home run to Michael Toglia.
The home run would be a recurrent theme in Friday’s game, as the Mets would respond in the bottom of the second with three solo blasts to jump right back in front 3-2. Mark Vientos started the onslaught before Jose Iglesias and Harrison Bader followed with blasts of their own against Rockies’ starter Tanner Gordon.
The Mets plated another run in the third with back-to-back doubles from Francisco Alvarez and Vientos.
