Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez has turned his season around over the last couple of weeks—and saved his most important hits for Saturday.
With a crucial two-out, two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning, Alvarez helped pad a lead that led to a 6-3 Mets victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday in Queens.
Earlier in the game, Alvarez hit a 3-2 changeup into the left field seats to tie the game at one in the second inning. It was Alvarez’s 11th home run of the year and fifth in his last nine games, as the catcher finished 2-for-4 with three RBI.
