PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Left-hander Antonio Bastardo surrendered ninth-inning solo homers to Kyle Higashioka and Sebastian Valle and the New York Yankees rallied for a 4-4 tie against the New York Mets at Tradition Field.
The 10-inning game drew a standing-room-only crowd announced at 7,558. The Mets are 3-3-2 in Grapefruit League play.
The New York teams resumed their spring-training annual meetings in 2012 after a 16-year hiatus.
The Mets signed Bastardo to a two-year, $12 million deal in January.
Manager Terry Collins has indicated that Addison Reed will be the primary setup man to Jeurys Familia, but team officials signed Bastardo envisioning a late-inning role as well.
