PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Dilson Herrera produced an inside-the-park homer against Craig Stem to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning and the New York Mets rallied for a 4-4 tie with the Miami Marlins on Friday at Tradition Field.
Buddy Carlyle had surrendered the go-ahead run in the top half of the inning, in his first game appearance since undergoing hip surgery last June. Carlyle, 38, is in camp on a minor-league deal.
The Mets are now 0-1-1 in Grapefruit League play.
Welcome back: Left-hander Jerry Blevins pitched in a game for the first time since suffering a fractured forearm last April 19, when he was struck by a line drive off the bat of Miami’s Dee Gordon.
