The last time the Mets won each game of the Subway Series in a single season was in 2013. Now, over a decade later, they have done so once more. After winning the first two matchups between the two teams at Citi Field last month, the Mets defeated the Yankees tonight at Yankee Stadium for the second straight night—this one a 12-3 shellacking—to secure the season sweep and (more importantly) continue their push for a wild card spot.
The two teams started off the night by trading solo homers with each other. The Yankees got the scoring started after Gerrit Cole recorded a 1-2-3 inning to open the game.
