Jenrry Mejia will appeal the lifetime ban MLB hit him with for a third positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, the closer’s lawyer said Friday.
Mejia was hit with a permanent suspension in February following his third positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, and his lifetime ban is the first handed out under MLB’s current drug agreement. The Dominican righty had already been serving a full-season ban since last July, when he tested positive for Stanozolol and Boldenone.

But on Friday, Mejia said that he was not using a banned substance when he was bagged for a third time.
