Sandy Alderson has seen enough.
The Mets are bringing in reinforcements for their beleaguered bullpen, signing Neil Ramirez on Tuesday to a major league contract, Fox Sports reported.
Ramirez, a former first-round draft pick who turns 28 later this month, was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week. He made nine appearances for the Giants this season, recording a 8.71 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings before being jettisoned. He also struggled in 2016, spending time with three teams, after effective spells with the Cubs in 2014 and 2015.
The Mets bullpen melted down Monday for the second straight day — Hansel Robles and Josh Edgin conspired to make a hash of the eighth inning in a 7-3 loss to the Diamondbacks — en route to the team’s fifth straight defeat, a skid that began with Jeurys Familia’s blown save-turned-blood clot diagnosis.
