What now?
Mets fans had to be feeling pretty good about their team before Tuesday night. Ageless wonder Bartolo Colon threw a scoreless inning of relief over the weekend and then eight shutout frames Monday and Steven Matz, shiny new rotation toy, returned to Citi Field Tuesday and pronounced himself fit to pitch. How do those guys fit into October? What about Noah Syndergaard?
Handicapping the postseason rotation made for fun banter, with Matt Harvey, Jacob DeGrom, Syndergaard and Jon Niese penciled in and Matz and Colon seemingly headed for the bullpen. That was before Niese got knocked around by the Phillies Tuesday to the tune of six runs on seven hits and Bobby Parnell continued his downward spiral and everyone was reaching for their erasers.
