Matz, Collins say no issue with pitcher's elbow

The Mets built an eight-run lead after four innings but had to sweat out an 8-6 win over the Braves on Friday night at Turner Field.

In case you missed it…

  • Steven Matz was handed an 8-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth but he proceeded to allow hits to eight of the nine batters he faced before being lifted. The big blow was a pinch-hit, three-run home run by Brandon Snyder that cut the Mets' lead to 8-5. Matz was charged with six runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings and did not strike out a batter for the first time in his career.
