The Mets turned to Matt Harvey to play stopper Friday, to snap their three-game skid. And naturally the Dark Knight delivered.
Harvey outdid Washington ace Max Scherzer in a pitchers’ duel, and the Mets shut out the NL East rival Nationals 4-0.
The crowd of 33,178 at Citi Field got to see the two 2013 All-Star Game starters go pitch-for-pitch, and Scherzer (1-3) barely blinked. But Harvey (5-0) didn’t blink at all, tossing seven scoreless innings to shave his ERA to 2.41 and become the first Met to win his first five starts of the year since Pedro Martinez 2006.
