With his arm tucked into a large black sling, David Wright made a surprise appearance on Thursday at Citi Field before the Mets’ game against the Cincinnati Reds.
For 20 minutes, Wright, who had surgery on Tuesday to repair his right rotator cuff, explained to the news media that he was determined to try to play again for the Mets, fending off gloomy questions.
“A lot of questions like I’m dying,” Wright said. “I’m not dying.”
A few hours later, another Met made a comeback statement on the field. Matt Harvey, in his second start since returning from a two-and-a-half-month stay on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, beat the Reds, 7-2.
