Matt Harvey on missing playoff workout due to traffic: 'I just screwed up'

For the first time in nine years, the Mets reported to their home field to prepare for a playoff series. And star pitcher Matt Harvey wasn't there, stuck in tunnel traffic so severe that manager Terry Collins told him to turn around.

General manager Sandy Alderson confirmed that Harvey did not show up to Tuesday's workout, which he called "mandatory." Alderson declined further comment.

Collins said he got a call from Harvey explaining his situation. Asked if he considered the absence excused, Collins said "not neccesarily."

Harvey, the only player not to make the workout, is slated to pitch Game 3 of the NLDS against the Dodgers.
