Matt Harvey is the Mets’ Opening Day starter, manager Terry Collins announced Thursday morning.
“Deservedly so in my opinion,” Collins said of giving Harvey the honor.
The rest of the rotation isn’t set, partly because Jacob deGrom’s availability is in question in the first week of the season. He and his wife are expecting a child.
This is the first time in his career that Harvey has gotten the Opening Day start. Bartolo Colon started on Opening Day last season and got the win against the Nationals.
