Matt Harvey Is Suspended for Three Days; Mets Fold Against Marlins

The Mets suspended pitcher Matt Harvey for three days without pay for a violation of team rules, General Manager Sandy Alderson said before Sunday’s 7-0 loss to the Miami Marlins at Citi Field.

The Mets did not give a specific reason for Harvey’s suspension, which they said began on Saturday.

Harvey was sent home by the team, the latest in a series of events that have become unwanted footnotes to his career with the Mets.

After impressive performances during a late-season promotion from the minors in 2012, Harvey seemed destined for stardom in the first half of the 2013 season.
