Matt Harvey saluted the crowd with a left-handed wave and took his seat in the dugout after the kind of performance the Mets have come to expect from the stud right-hander.
For most of the night it had been almost too easy, with Harvey sailing through the innings as his teammates built a lead, and even Kyle Schwarber’s impressive — but ultimately harmless — home run in the eighth wasn’t going to spoil this night for the Mets.
Harvey handed off to Jeurys Familia, skipping the middle man in the Mets’ 4-2 victory over the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS at chilly Citi Field.
