Lupica: Mets can't stop Royal masterpiece

It became official that the Mets had lost the World Series a little before 12:35 on Monday morning, when Wade Davis threw one more fastball that Wilmer Flores, one of the heroes of the Mets season, took for a called third strike. And in that moment the Royals finished a job in the Series they thought they should have finished last year, when they came up one run short against Madison Bumgarner and the Giants in Game 7.

They won this World Series by coming back on the first night of November to tie the game in the 9th inning, ruining what should have been Matt Harvey’s game and moment until everything went wrong for him in the top of the 9th and his team ahead two runs.
