Luis Severino nominated for 2024 Gold Glove

On Tuesday, Major League Baseball announced the finalists for the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. Only one Met was announced as a finalist, which is starting pitcher Luis Severino.

The Met that was expected to be a finalist was shortstop Francisco Lindor, who has been garnering serious MVP discussion, in part because of his sterling defense. Instead, Dansby Swanson (Cubs), Ezequiel Tovar (Rockies), and Masyn Winn (Cardinals) were the three National League finalists.

Severino’s competitors are both National League East rivals: Zack Wheeler (Phillies) and Chris Sale (Braves).

Gold Gloves, especially for pitchers, are always somewhat subjective.
