The Mets announced that they will not pick up the option on Luis Rojas’s contract for 2022, effectively ending his tenure as the team’s manager. The Mets have offered that Rojas stay in the organization in some capacity, though it is not known how nor is it known if he is receptive to the offer.
Rojas has been in the organization for sixteen years, most notably as the manager of the Single-A St. Lucie Mets and Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies from 2014-18. He spent the 2019 season in the big leagues as the team’s quality control coach, earning praise from many major leaguers who had risen through the minor league system.
