Lucas Duda throws away Game 5 — and the World Series

Lucas Duda made a wild throw home in the top of the ninth to allow the tying run to score and with that, what seemed like an almost certain win turned into a tying run for the Royals in the 7-2, 12-inning loss in Game 5 of the World Series to give Kansas City a title and end the Mets season.

Duda had provided the Mets with an extra run in the sixth, lifting a sacrifice fly to center to score Curtis Granderson from third and give the Mets a 2-0 lead.

And with Matt Harvey mowing down opposing batters with no problem, that run looked like it would be enough to allow the Mets to force a Game 6 and head back to Kansas City.
