Lucas Duda bides time, rides bike while back heals

MIAMI -- New York Mets first baseman Lucas Duda said Sunday that the most difficult part of his disabled-list stint is just the waiting for the stress fracture in his lower back to heal.

Duda was placed on the DL on May 23. The Mets acquired James Loney last weekend to plug the first-base void.

“Probably the hardest part is just taking it easy,” Duda said while visiting teammates in Miami. “The activity is pretty slight. It’s just riding a bike. That’s essentially it until the next step in the process comes.
