Hitting coach Kevin Long is expected to leave the Mets after being passed over for manager, according to multilple reports.
Meanwhile, the Mets are finalizing a two-year deal with assistant hitting coach Pat Roessler, reports Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News, who says Roessler's role will expand.
The 57-year-old Roessler worked under Long from 2015 to 2017.
The Nationals are still considering whether to offer their hitting coach position to Long, who interviewed to be their manager last week, according to Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post.
While Long is not likely to return to the Mets, new manager Mickey Callaway and GM Sandy Alderson have both stated they hope he is back as their hitting coach next season.
