The Mets' rudderless offense continued to show no signs of igniting and the Rockies broke open a close game late in a 6-1 win at Citi Field on Friday night.
In case you missed it…
- Steven Matz (8-7) worked hard to extricate himself from several jams, but finally allowed a tie-breaking RBI single in the sixth to lose for the sixth time in his last seven decisions. The left-hander yielded two runs on 10 hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
- Trailing 3-1 in the eighth, the Mets put the first two runners aboard on consecutive singles by Alejandro De Aza and Curtis Granderson.
