The Mets opened their three-game series in Atlanta with an absolute dud, as they lost 5-1 and never really looked to have a chance of winning the game. That’s not ideal, of course, as they came into the series needing two wins in three games to clinch a playoff spot by way of securing a three-game lead and the tiebreaker over the Braves.
Luis Severino wasn’t good, as he gave up four runs in four innings of work. The Mets’ bullpen mostly fared well after that, giving up just a run in four innings of work, but it didn’t really matter.
