Like father, like son.
Lee Mazzilli started his major league career with the Mets before ultimately playing for the Yankees. Now his son, prospect L.J. Mazzilli, is switching franchises on the minor-league level. L.J. was traded from the Mets to the Yankees for outfield prospect Kendall Coleman.
L.J., a fourth-round pick in 2013, advanced to Triple-A last season and started this season there for the Mets. Mazzilli has hit .268 through five minor league seasons and was suspended for 50 games in 2015 for a second positive test of drugs of abuse.
Coleman has not made it past the Single-A level after the Yankees took him in the 11th round of the 2013 draft.
