David Wright has been been diagnosed with an impingement in his right shoulder and was told Tuesday not to throw for two weeks after visiting with a doctor in New York.
He will be re-evaluated in two weeks, during which he'll technically still be able to hit and serve as the designated hitter during the team's Grapefruit League games, Mets GM Sandy Alderson told reporters.
The 34-year-old Wright has been limited to just 75 regular-season games during the past two seasons. He was on the disabled list for roughly four months in 2015 when he strained his right hamstring and then developed spinal stenosis.
