Lagares, Mets get aggressive behind solid Thor

Young's three-run homer off left-hander Jerry Blevins off the scoreboard in left-center in the top of the sixth provided the Red Sox with a 5-3 lead after Syndergaard had left the game with the Mets hanging onto a 3-2 lead.

The Red Sox grabbed a 1-0 lead against Syndergaard in the top of the fourth when Xander Bogaerts doubled to left-center with one out and scored on a single to left by Travis Shaw. Syndergaard then recorded his fourth and fifth strikeouts of the game to escape further damage.

That lead didn't last long as the Mets scored three runs in the top of the fourth, thanks in part to pitching and defensive miscues by the Red Sox.
