The New York Mets reportedly worked out cricket star Kieran Powell at their training facility in Port St. Lucie on Jan. 9, according to Devon Teeple of Examiner (Jan. 12).
Powell, 25, is considered one of the best cricket batsman in the world. He has been playing the sport at its highest level since he was 16 years old.
However, due to a recent contract dispute, Powell has decided to take some time off from the game and explore other opportunities, including the transition to baseball.
When asked how the cricket swing compares to baseball, Powell said he sees similarities but knows there are adjustments to be made.
