So you thought Clayton Kershaw was pretty good on three days’ rest in Game 4 against the Mets Tuesday night, not only helping the Dodgers force a deciding game in the NLDS but also perhaps squashing the narrative about Kershaw having trouble in the postseason.
But this good?
Kershaw’s “game score,” a stat developed by Bill James, was the fourth-best since 2000 for a starter going on short rest in the postseason, according to baseball-reference.com, behind only some pretty famous outings involving another New York team, the Yankees.
Kershaw allowed only one run and three hits in seven innings at Citi Field, striking out eight and walking one, earning a game score of 74.
