MILWAUKEE — Keon Broxton’s value to the Mets is largely as a defensive player, but Sunday the outfielder might as well have left his glove at home.
In maybe the key play of the Mets’ 3-2 loss, Broxton misplayed Orlando Arcia’s fly to right field in the third inning. The ball went for a double — an error was not charged on the play — helping the Brewers score their runs. After a sacrifice fly, Christian Yelich hit a titanic two-run homer off Jason Vargas, but if Broxton catches Arcia’s ball, it’s possible Yelich wouldn’t have batted in the inning.
