Keon Broxton never expected to land with the Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE — Keon Broxton half expected the Brewers to trade him, but in surveying the scene never considered the Mets would be his next team.

“I was surprised it was the New York Mets,” said the 28-year-old outfielder, who arrived in a deal last month for three minor leaguers. “I am excited to be here, though. Everything this team has, history and fan support and how big the market is and everything about it is awesome.”

Broxton, who is noted for his defense, joins Michael Conforto, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil and Juan Lagares in the outfield mix.
