MILWAUKEE — Home was nice, but winning is better.
As somebody who signed a free-agent contract last offseason, Kelly Johnson couldn’t be traded from the Braves before June 15 without his permission. The veteran utilityman could have, at the very minimum, stalled the deal that sent him back to the Mets earlier this week, but he clearly embraced the idea of a return to New York — even after he had signed with the Braves last offseason largely for the chance to stay home in Atlanta with his wife and three children. The Braves had a 17-42 record entering Friday, worst in the majors.
